“Comfort is the enemy of calling. You’ll never fully understand or develop your calling if comfort is your main goal.”

-Tony McCollum, Pastor of Fusion Church in Suwanee, Georgia.

As human beings, we long for comfort. God has placed within this great need and only he can fill it. I have always tried to separate this need for comfort and God’s calling for my life, instead of trusting that His call would lead me to comfort in Him. Two years ago, I was living in Texas, following my own dreams, and preparing to attend a school that I felt would push me towards MY future.

Honestly, I was afraid of what God’s call in my life would entail. At the time, all I knew was that He was calling me to Maryland. He was calling me to move 1,450 miles to the unknown. That’s comfortable, right? NOT!!!

I was too focused on the details. God was calling me to a life with him. God was calling me trust him. God was calling me to an adventurous life with Him.

1 God told Abram: “Leave your country, your family, and your father’s home for a land that I will show you.

2-3 I’ll make you a great nation and bless you.
I’ll make you famous; you’ll be a blessing.
I’ll bless those who bless you; those who curse you I’ll curse.
All the families of the Earth will be blessed through you.”

-Genesis 12:1-3 (The Message)
