If you haven’t heard, Remedy Church is teaming up with HELP (Help End Local Poverty) to build a well in Kenscoff, Haiti.
The people of Haiti are dying everyday from water-related diseases. Many of these people have no water in their villages and must walk miles to get water from local wells. HELP is doing everything they can to change this. They are digging wells all over Haiti in order to give Haitians access to something we take for granted every day. As Americans we cannot even begin to comprehend a shortage of water.
Here is the reality that Haitians are living with every day::
- “Nearly one billion people – about one in eight – lack access to clean water. More than twice that many, 2.5 billion people, don’t have access to a toilet.”
- “3.575 million people die each year from water-related disease.”
- “An American taking a five-minute shower uses more water than a typical person in a developing country slum uses in a whole day.”
- “The water and sanitation crisis claims more lives through disease than any war claims through guns.”
- “Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease.”
- “Almost two in every three people who need safe drinking water survive on less than $2 a day and one in three on less than $1 a day.”
